Rabbinic Jews believe in Talmud, Karaites and Samaritans believe in NK of TNK. All of them claim that it is their tradition. An obvious question as to why it was written down causes misunderstanding at best... So what is the REAL tradition of the Hebrew/Jewish people...
The answer, once again, is very simple. It is everything from Genesis/Bereshit 1:1 - Exodus/Shemot 12:1. The book of Genesis, to be general.
As Jewish tradition states, the actual Torah begins with Exodus 12. This is because it has the first commandment from God to Moses and we are literally commanded in Numbers 15:23 to observe " the whole that Jehovah hath charged upon you by the hand of Moses, from the day that Jehovah hath commanded, and henceforth, to your generations (YLT)". This is why the actual Torah (the actual law with commandments) starts here.
Why do we need Genesis and Exodus 1-11? Well, we are not computers, we are human, so we need the backstory to the commandments to provide an explanation of the reasons why these commandments were given and by who. Essentially, this makes it our true written TRADITION that God thought necessary to write down. That is it. There is no need for any more /any other written tradition. Especially if such written tradition is being abused. Does it mean we can't have history books? Of'course not. What we can't have is books that claim to be from God, while they are just man-made works, such as NK or Talmud. Talmud was not originally a holy book. It was a commentary on the Torah, which for some reason got canonized. Same can be assumed about NK, even though it has in it historical information. So while Talmud and NK all have truth in them, they do not possess an authority of the Written Torah. Written Torah always overrides anything.
For example, NK or Talmud do not say where women are to live in a relationship, and particularly during their unclean times (period). This is why it was recorded by God in our true written tradition (Genesis) that women lived separately from men. I.e Sarah and Jacobs women(wifes and slaves) all lived in separate tents. Countless examples like this are the reason why Talmud or NK can't be real tradition.
