Today begins Young Moon Shabbat.
Colloquially we call it New Moon of the 1st Month of the New Year. Today is the true Hebrew New Year as Written Torah commands.
So-called Rosh HaShanah is NOT New Year, but rather a middle of the year.
This was rather short week. Only one work day. This is because there is a day between Old Moon and Young Moon. The day between them, when there is no Moon is a true astronomical new moon and it is not shabbat.
Shabbat begins tonight 04/07/2016 at 7:20pm PDT and ends tomorrow evening 04/08/2016 @ 7:20pm PDT. This Shabbat falls on the 1st Day of the 1st Month. New Year and Passover Month. You should see the first(new) crescent of the Moon tonight.
Today we blow Shofar as per Numbers 10:10. You can listen to Shofar on my blog (see right-side toolbar on main page).
