Halal Slaughter: Should Torah Observers Eat It?

We may get the idea that Muslim dietary practice is somewhat similar to Kosher/Clean & Unclean practice and therefore seek out local Halal butchers for meat. There may be a problem with this. While Islamic practice can vary from group to group, many effectively sacrifice their animals in the name of their elohim. Exodus 34:15 and its surrounding verses seem to indicate that we wouldn't even want to consider eating of such a thing from the Canaanites, so this situation could be problematic as well (there are some connections between Islamic and Canaanite practice).
