Exodus 25:10-22 - Ark of the Covenant: Main Parts

The Ark of the Covenant consisted of three parts:

1) The Ark itself, with golden-plated staves, four golden rings and with the golden crown on top. Dimensions of the Ark were 2.5 cubits x 1.5 cubits x 1.5 cubits

2) The Mercy Seat with two Cherubs and solid gold base. Dimensions of the the Mercy seat were 2.5 cubits x 1.5 cubits.

3) Two Stone Tablets - The Testimony, with the ten sayings, also known as the ten commandments. Each of the Stone Tablets had all ten commandments written on it: five on the front and five on the back.

Thickness of the Ark sides and the thickness of the Mercy Seat is not given explicitly. At this time, I'm not sure what exactly it could've been, but it appears to be a relatively small value - just like the boards of the Mishkan itself.

It is also worthy to note, that besides two stone tablets, there was nothing else in the Ark (as per 1 Kings 8:9)

9 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt
